Dido Elizabeth Belle was the mixed heritage daughter of white Captain Sir John Lindsay and black enslaved Maria Belle.

Dido was born in June 1761 and sent to live with her great Uncle William Murray, the 1st Earl of Mansfield.

Dido lived in the luxury of Kenwood House at a time when the enslavement of Africas was normal under European law.

The sticker image is taken from the famous portrait of Dido Elizabeth Belle with her cousin Lady Elizabeth.
